Steel Goes Green: Decarbonization on a Continental Scale

Arcelor Mittal’s Decarbonisation Programme centers on the ambition to transform a significant part of their production facilities. This transformation goes beyond mere technological advancement; it’s about taking a pioneering role in the industry and leaving a better environmental legacy for future generations. The switch from coal-fired to gas-fired hydrogen plants in seven European plants and one in Canada marks significant progress in the fight against climate change.

Wesley van der Burg (founder @ Baeken) contributed to this project before the establishment of Baeken, employed by Primaned projectadvies, part of Eiffel Projects.

Masterful Control of Project Details

Within this immense and detailed program, my expertise in Project Controls was vital. It’s not just about keeping time and managing risks, bus also about bringing different disciplines and teams together to achieve the same goal. During the 10-year duration of the project, I ensured that contractual, financial and risk-related aspects were harmoniously coordinated. By working closely with Fluor’s Project Controls team, we were able to ensure that the execution of this project was both efficient and effective.

Navigating to a More Sustainable World

We recognize the significance of addressing global challenges with precision and care. The Arcelor Mittal Decarbonisation Program is a perfect example of this. By overseeing every aspect of this monumental project, we ensured that every step towards a greener future was taken with the utmost care. We are proud to support our customers in their pursuit of sustainability, innovation and progress.
